Chinese Kun Opera
INTERACTIVE 3D SOUND FOR A LIVE PERFORMANCE
The performance of a Chinese Kun Opera was staged with a live 3D sound mix by TAUCHER at the Electronic Music Week, held by the Shanghai Music Conservatory. The public was seated in a circle around the performers, the pre-produced music heard from a 3D speaker array behind the public. The singer was performing without amplification, only his voice's reverb was recorded and played back with the same reverb as the music, lending the scene both a very intimate and spacious quality, nicely nestled into the bigger virtual reverb spatiality, while the performer was clearly heard at center stage.
