Life in the dark
LWL Museum of Natural Science, Münster (DE), 2015

Inside the darkened space, visitors become a part of the wild concert of the Amazonas Rainforest — surrounded by conversations and songs of the indigenous animals. The second soundscape lets the night time inhabitants of the Sonora Desert on the border of USA and Mexico speak. All the animal sounds used in the soundscapes are recordings of the original species found in the two geographic areas, to ensure a correct representation of both habitats. The sound design was made for two speaker arrays plus the ceiling, so the species at ground level and in the trees can be localized and distinguished.
The Night Sound Space is part of the temporary exhibition Life in the Darkness at the LWL-Museum of Natural History in Münster, Germany. The exhibition ran from May 2015 until May 2016.
