Sound scenography is the art of staging space with sound.

Sound can call forth emotions and evocative moods, but it also provides meaning and information. Sound can single-handedly tell a whole story. The sonic actors at work include spoken word and narration, atmospheres that provide context, sound effects guiding the visitor’s attention, music that entices emotions, and sound technologies that create a spatial framework to orchestrate the sound in space.

We at TAUCHER understand sound not only as an individual design element that scenography is composed of (such as light, costume, stage set, etc.) but as a scenographic discipline in its own right. An artistic approach concerned with the various aspects of sound, sound scenography is complementary to the visual design and in accordance with its spatial composition. Merging the ideas of theatrical scenography with the discerning techniques of film sound design, sound scenography is the art of staging space with sound.
