ERROR — The art of imperfection: DIN
Ars Electronica
Berlin (DE) – 2018
Imagine stepping into a space where thirty LED screens are suspended in mid-air, each flickering and malfunctioning in a mesmerizing display of digital disorder. Inside Claudia Rohrmoser and Florian Kühnle’s media installation, “DIN,” which was shown at the Ars Electronica exhibition ERROR, the screens never quite achieve perfection, continuously cycle through calibration routines, embracing imperfection as the new standard. We contributed an evolving electronic soundtrack that accompanies the visual spectacle, starting subtly and gradually building in intensity as the screens’ frenetic activity escalates. The sound envelops visitors, courtesy of a high-resolution spatial sound system and concealed speakers, immersing them in the very essence of the glitch. The installation aims to transport visitors into a realm where errors are not just accepted but exalted. The fusion of visual and auditory elements engenders a spellbinding ambiance, transforming technical malfunctions into a captivating art form, allowing visitors to lose themselves in sound and vision, discovering beauty within the flawed.
