Berlin (DE) – 2020
SPREEHALLE Berlin launched its inaugural season with the ELEKTROPOLIS transmedia concert series, which took place in the historic AEG factory in Berlin. The series featured performances by prominent musicians from the electronic music, jazz, and contemporary experimental music genres, all of whom played through and with the TRANSFORMATOR spatial sound instrument. We developed the TRANSFORMATOR specifically for this venue, creating a unique concert experience designed for a scenographic listening perspective. The goal was to provide an immersive journey for the audience, overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic and turning them into an artistic concept. Due to limitations on the number of visitors inside the concert space, attendees had to rotate during the performance. We used our MNTN Spatial Sound System for live spatial mixing, allowing some visitors to enjoy the performance indoors with maximum focus. Those outside the venue were treated to a different yet equally captivating sonic experience through outdoor loudspeakers while also enjoying cozy conversations around a crackling campfire with a glass of wine.
