In Ewig den Zufall betrachtend// Alicja Kwade

M Leuven

Leuven (BE), 2025

For Alicja Kwade’s solo exhibition “Dusty Die” at M Leuven, we composed the soundtrack of her video work “Für immer den Zufall betrachtend”. In the dark opening gallery, three double-sided screens show slow-motion dice tumbling through space. The composition transforms these images into embodied events: heavy, resonant, and present in the room. Recorded stone impacts with low-frequency energy, virtual room acoustics, and a sensitively tuned mix for the custom designed 29.3-channel loudspeaker layout let the dice roll beyond the screens and dissolve the boundaries of the gallery. The result is not merely a video installation, but an immersive spatial composition in which image, sound, and architecture merge into a coherent experience.
